Experience insight, relief, and transformation through EFT

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is a simple yet powerful way to release stress, process tricky emotions, discover and clear limiting subconscious beliefs, and to retrieve your energy and vitality, so that you’re operating in alignment with your deepest desires, thus helping you manifest these into the reality you experience.

The technique combines Western approaches to working with the thinking mind with Eastern approaches to working somatically with the energy in the body.

Below you can learn more about EFT and what to expect in a session!

What can you expect during a session?

Safety and compassion

  • A safe space will be held for you to explore the issue you are working on.
  • Together we'll create a sacred container for you to dive in, feel, express, release, clear, rewire, and call in.
  • Sessions are always 100% confidential, and this is held steadfastly with the utmost integrity.

A structured format

  • We'll start out by going over some basic information about EFT.
  • I will show you the acupuncture tapping points (if you don't already know them). These are the points on your body (head, face, chest and hands) where you will lightly tap on yourself during the session.
  • We'll establish what issue you want to focus on during the session (talking through this if you are uncertain).
  • I'll invite you to close your eyes and start tapping, and I will ask you a series of questions, beginning the internal exploration of your issue.
  • You'll continue tapping as we follow the emotions, beliefs, and memories involved, allowing them to be felt, expressed, and released.
  • As the charge around the issue lessens and clears, we'll feel into and affirm new possibilities.

An opportunity for vulnerability

  • How deep you go is up to you. It can be a light exploration, or a deep excavation.
  • I invite you to lean into your edge here, to the best of your ability, while always doing what feels right and makes sense for you.
  • When we go inside, you will likely meet parts of yourself that are needing and wanting some attention, expression, and healing. Keep in mind:
    • If you meet sadness, it's ok to cry.
    • If you meet anger, it's ok to yell.
    • If you meet numbness, it's ok to honor it.
    • Whatever you meet, it's ok to feel it fully.

Outcomes

  • Often feelings of immediate relief from the troublesome emotions come after they have been processed in an EFT session.
  • Lightness
  • Insight, and new understandings of the landscape of an issue, which can then aide in movement and transformation.
  • Unblocked energy for taking steps forward.

What is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It’s also sometime referred to as “Tapping”.

Part of the practice entails you tapping gently on your own acupuncture points, as you feel into difficult places internally, exploring and essentially ‘reprogramming’ subconscious beliefs that may no longer be serving you, releasing them from your mind and also from where they have been stored in your energy body and your brain’s neural pathways.

Scientists believe that about 95% of brain activity is beyond our conscious awareness (i.e. subconscious). It’s also believed that most of our subconscious beliefs are formed by the time we are 7 years old!

This means that often times we are causing and creating our own reality using a blueprint that’s outdated-- a ‘default’ blueprint we ended up with based on the messages our brains picked up from inherited family beliefs, cultural conditioning, and childhood experiences that may have ranged from mildly upsetting to highly traumatic.

EFT essentially helps you to process emotions and places of 'stuckness', and to reprogram your subconscious mind, so that the blueprint you’re operating from is consciously chosen by you, and is in alignment with calling in your own best interests and the best interests of the greater good.

What can you use EFT for?

You can use EFT to:

  • Get unstuck
  • Unpack and work through anything that is causing you stress, pain, or worry.
  • Get relief in areas where your mind is looping with obsessive thoughts.
  • Clear the way emotionally, subconsciously, and energetically so you can receive.

Here are some examples of things you can do an EFT session on:

  • I can't stop thinking about ____.
  • When I think about ____ I feel so ____ [sad, angry, nervous, ashamed]
  • I have _____ [a job interview, a visit, a difficult conversation] coming up soon and it's bringing up a lot of _____ [anxiety, fear, confusion, indecision]
  • I deeply desire more ______ [fun, love, sex, money] in my life, and need help moving towards that.

How many sessions should I do?

You can create big shifts and work through a lot in one session. One session is absolutely worth it. That being said, EFT is a great tool and a great process to use regularly as a practice of emotional hygiene. It also depends on how much you've got going on that you're working on. Sometimes we find that under the umbrella of one 'issue', there can be many various aspects, and each aspect can benefit from its own dedicated session. An example of this would be, under the umbrella of "I want to be in a loving relationship", you might find "jealousy", "fear of not being good enough", "fear of commitment", "body image issues", and a myriad of things that relate to and might be getting in the way of your ultimate goal.

I invite you to do what feels right for you, knowing that one session can be very powerful and can create concrete shifts and transformation, and also keeping in mind that true, sustained, transformation comes over time and is a practice. EFT is a great tool to use as part of this practice.
